reunion with my '57 98 hardtop!
Hi All, I had the good fortune of being able to buy a '57 Olds 98 4 door hardtop from a client of mine back in 1990. I enjoyed the car for 10 years and did several cosmetic upgrades. I hung on to it, thinking that my kids would like to drive it when they came of age. However, it was not to be. Seems the kids want to drive a bubble that looks like all the other bubbles on the road these days!
I decided to sell it in 2001 and felt it went to a good home--a father/son team who wanted it to round out their stable of other '57s which included a Chev Bel Air and a Studebaker Hawk, among others.
Years went by, and I dreamed of finding my '57 Olds and buying her back, now that I have more room, time and money! I kept bringing up the subject, which got noticed by my fine son and wonderful wife! While I was out of town a couple of years ago, they were able to contact the guys who had bought my 98, cut a deal with them, and was I ever suprised to see the old girl sitting in the driveway when I got home!
This is the year to get her back into good shape. I need some advice on securing some wheels and clips that will allow me to utilize the original spinner hubcaps. Has anybody been through this challenge? Thanks for your replies! dbuck

Welcome aboard,
I also enjoyed your Olds story, I'm glad you got it back.
As you probably know you are looking for 14 inch wheels if you have the original spinners. Most any Olds, Buick or Pontiac with 14 inch wheels from 57 to 63 should fit the hubs( don't know if the spinners would fit all years or not). also I didn't know that 57's took clips, 55's don't so someone will have to help me out here .But if you are only short wheels and clips for your car you most certainly a lucky man,
let us know any of your future needs, and of course we need pictures....Lost in the fifties.... Tedd

Fusick has the wheel clips for the deluxe hubcaps and the wheel covers as well

Thanks for the replies on my wheel cover issue. The rims currently on the car measure 15 1/2 inches in diameter. Hole pattern is 5 x 4 3/4 inches. I'm sure they are not original. They also don't have any kind of a slot to attach clips to. My wheel covers measure 16 inches in diameter and look just like what Fusick has in the their catalog for 1957, but they say they are for 14 inch wheels only. Do I need to be looking for original wheels to start with? Any ideas on where to look? Thanks much!
