help w/carb #

I want to rebuild my 57 88 4 barrel carb, but can't find a no. on it. Anybody have an idea where it is? Or how I can get a rebuild kit identified for the Rochester 4 jet. Thanks

Welcome to ClassicOldsmobile.

As I recall, the 4-Jet's number was stamped onto an aluminum tag that was held on by one of the air horn screws - once the tag is gone, there s no way to know the number.

I'm not sure what you do in those situations, other than to find out what the number is supposed to be, and hope for the best.

Maybe I'm wrong and someone will correct me and make you happy.

Do you really need to know this? Assuming this is the car's original carburetor, Fusick shows a kit in their catalog listed simply as applicable to "1957 Oldsmobile All Rochester 4 barrel." No need to tell them a carb number or look it up by carb number or anything else. I would assume that it would fit your carb. It's their part number 1128. It's $66, so I would probably check with them about returning it if it doesn't fit, assuming you buy it.

When I rebuilt the carb in my '67 Delta 88, I didn't need to know the carb number. I bought the kit at Autozone for $20, and all they needed to know was that it was a 425 with 2-barrel carb. The kit was just fine as having the parts, pieces, and gaskets I needed.
