Second Posting...Getting Close!

Hi, I tried to send a posting yesterday, but it didn't get there for some reason. A couple of you asked me to tell you more about my '67 Cutlass. I've done alot of electrical repairs, such as turn signal switch, headlight and high beam switches several lamp socket replacements, etc. The most interesting item I've worked on is the switch on the firewall that is hooked up to the throttle linkage and controls the "variable-vane" torque-converter. The car came with the wire harness missing (from switch to tranny plug). I was able to find the correct wiring in the '67 Olds book (which the former owner gave to me). I was also able to fabricate my own harness by using an emergency light battery plug and a length of two-wire automotive wire. This worked great for a while, but then I began to lose the "passing gear" mode at times. The manual explains how to calibrate the switch, which I have done a few times, but it always reverts back to missing the downshift mode most of the time. I'll probably end up replacing the switch or making up my own setup. When the switch does function correctly, the 330C.I. H.O. SCREAMS!!! I can only imagine what you guys with the 442's feel like when you punch the bigger engines!
Well, gotta save some for the third "obligatory" posting. You have a great site here and I can't wait to contribute! Take care! jimjr

Keep the info coming and you'll get lottsa helpful feedback. If you can rig up wiring harnesses, you're miles ahead of me!Send some pics and tell us how you got hooked on Olds. As a 442 guy ,it is awesome to tromp on it and hear that growl, but for me,it's the memories that sound brings up,and everyone has their own reason for owning and loving a certain model...derek
