67 done after 4 years!

Well gentleman 4 years, over 15k and one wife later it is done! Well they are never done, but the car is back on the road. I drove it about 25 miles today (more then in the last 4 years) and its tight, rattle free, feels GREAT and will be kept in the stable with all the others where it belongs! I know the stripes on the side aren't right, the car is not nor was intended to be a 100 point car, This car will be treated well but driven. I am excited to get it back on the road. Now comes the 77 which as a matter of fact is the same color combo!

Thanks guys, I will try to get some of the before photos up today! I forgot how much fun it is to drive the car until yesterday. It gets lots of attention. Guess I can't do anything I shouldn't when I am in it!

Car looks very nice.

I do have a question about the front seatcovers...noticed that there are some missing seams/piping on the "bolsters" / edge panels. I am in no way criticizing the car...as a matter of fact, the front covers in the '67 I bought last year are the same way. Were yours done by an upholstery shop? Or is there actually a "kit" with covers like these? I'm curious because I gather the front seats in my car were re-done many years ago, and I just assumed that either they were done by an upholstery shop, or perhaps a very early re-upholstery kit came that way. I can say that the vinyl used for my covers is a perfect match to the rear seats (orignal) and door panels, and I've always wondered what "the deal" was. It would surprise me that anyone today (or say within the last 10 years) would have custom covers made, considering the availability of the kits.

I'm also curious if anyone else had pointed this out? Since I've bioght my car, I've seen quite a few on Ebay, etc that are the same way.

You know what, The seats were done when I got the car and never really noticed. The difference may be whether the seats were just slightly different as the model year went on. Some of the stuff did change through the build year. Also, these seat backs and side trim were all stamped steel and not plastic which I thought was very odd. I have never seen these panels other then plastic.

You know, I have wondered if maybe there was a change during the model year, but ultimately chalked that up to wishful thinking. My car is a semi-somewhat early build (October 1966). Still, Its a mystery that I'd love to solve definitively (though again I think the most likely scenarios are custom upholstery work or an "early" kit that didn't have the extra seams/piping).

By the way since you didn't notice it before, I hope you don't mind my having pointed it out now! I'll try to upload a pic of the seats in my own car...when I noticed it about a week after I bought it, it did drive me a little crazy (a short drive for me).

I do also think my bucket seat backs/side panels are metal as well.
