70 cutlass/455 project Torque machine
so it all started when i got my first car all i had was 500 bucks and i had to sell my fourwheeler to get that much lol. anyways there was this old car sitting next to the school i didnt even know what it was except it had some inner beauty that i could see. now dont get me wrong this car was ready for the glue factory lol ok and the guy wanted 1,000 bucks for it but i called anyways cause it had a great running numbers matching 350 and the floor pans and frame was solid. so i got ahold of the guy he said he has gotten a few offers for aound 800 and i said oh ok well i dont wanna jew you out of your money and he said well are you going to restore it and i said yea of course the other guys that offered him 800 where gunna put it in a demo. so he let me have it for 500 then the building began. after 4 years all the bodywork ended and i finally got to drive it. the 350 wasnt enough power so i sold it. which still bugs me that i did that and now im building my 455. i will have specs and pics soon.

A garage like mine is just a carport with walls. At least I can lock it up which is a good thing.

gaage
I have a 2 car garage but no heat or lights so I moved my car over to my mom's 3 car garage which has infloor heat and lights. Wow what a concept that was
I had to move my brother's car to my garage , but since he lives on the opposite coast he did not have much say . The house and garage is less than a year old so I will have to do a major cleanup when I am done but it sure makes it nice to work in during our long , cold winter.![]() |

A carport!! Whats that? lol
I had to do a engine swap in the dirt in my backyard. It sucked, I would kill just to have a concrete slab. CS 70 You wont regret getting the 455. I just got mine a couple days ago and love it. Just make sure you have a 4 row radiator. The 3 row in mine just isn't working good enough for long stop and go drives. ![]()

Oh, the break in miles. With the trunk or bed loaded with tools and fluids. I have a round trip journy I take up one pass through central washington down to south east Washington to Oregon and back home. Some times I take the 101 up the coast if all is feeling good and other times I take another route home. Break in done in one drive. Usualy with no problems and always a pleasure. Tough to hold back the urge to feel it out at times though.

Looks good. Looks like you went with the same comp set rocker set up I used.
No doubt the 64 is not the same as your 70. But I bough small and big block motor mounts for my car when I replaced the 330 with the 455. At $9.00 each I thought it was best since I was unsure about hood and header clearance. I used the shorter of the two mount sets with my small block frame mounts and it worked out good. The headers clear and the windfart hi-rise fit with a 3" air filter. I only had to trim the hood frame to clear the outer edge of the air cleaner. |

A beauty
The motor is going to be a real beauty by the sound of it. Are you planning on cleaning up and putting fresh paint around the engine bay?

been there
I know how you feel about that first hand. Like that expression "been there , done that" When I started my little job my intention was to only clean up the motor and engine bay but one thing laeds to another, then another and so on and so on. I think that in the end when you are done everything and have it on the road purring like a kitten until you push on that pedal that makes her roar like a lion it will all be worthwhile.

sounds good
Everything sounds as though it's going good so far. your best guess is that "it would hit" . Are you talking about the hood? If it does hit do you have a plan on what you are going to do about it. You could always customize the one you have i guess. My problem is that everytime I take off parts to check and add gaskets etc. I keep seeing parts I don't like the look of so I keep on stripping it down and Painting them. Right now I need to find some front end trim pieces that go around headslights and under the grills. The ones I took off are either cracked (could be fixed) or broken and missing pieces.I painted the motor and tranny as well as oilpan and tranny pan etc. then I decided to paint up everything inside the engine bay. Took out the wheelwells and painted them. I have replaced all gaskets and hoses vacuum lines , dist cap and rotor , plugs , wires Oil filter , tranny filter , timing chain and gears. All the parts I take off I clean up and paint so when it goes back together it will look good. As I go along I have been taking pics and posting on http://www.flickr.com/photos/wolfman98/

I hope your breaks are in good shape. That looks like a nasty hairpin curve.

cool pics
Love those pics. looks like a spot I have been to a few times that's not far from here , sharp right hand corner , trees in back . Is there an old farm just past the corner on the right? A lake with good rainbow trout fishing about a mile down the road? What state are you in anyway cause it looks a lot like many places around here. Are those wheelie bars legal down there
and do you really need them . You have any 1/4 mile tracks around you where you can get in some fun and put those bars to good use , I would think that is why you have them anyway. Good job on the build and I hope you all the luck with staying out of the radar![]() |

Very nice. I really like the stance on your car, its got just a touch of that 'cocked & loaded' look. I'm curious have you done much to the suspension and what size wheels you have on there?
