Cutlass floor mats
I am at the floor mats stage of my almost-completely-original '64 Cutlass restoration (
). Searching the catalogs and internet, there are hundreds of choices, from vinyl to plush carpet, $40/set to $100s/set.Can anyone offer recommendations on mats they've really liked, or not? I'm, leaning toward carpeted mats for quiet and comfort, but am open. How about judges at shows, does one get dinged for non-original mats? Thnks, Mark

If you're really concerned about judging, the non-original mats are easily removed for show. This is like the folks who have original-spec redlines on stock wheels for show and modern radials on aluminum wheels for driving.

I really like the floor mats that have about a 1 to 2 inch ridge around the edge. You can get them almost anywhere and they really keep the carpet underneath clean and free of fluids like water/melted snow/mud. They come in different colors, even clear. In a place like here in Kansas City we get lots of rainfall/snow every year and it really helps. I think they were originally marketed for trucks but have since been made for cars too.

The Parts Place has carpet type mats to match your carpet, with or without an emblem embroidered in them. They made up a set of turquoise mats with the early 442 emblem for me at a slight surcharge. They also put them on ebay from time to time. http://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/ocat...&YearList=1964
