1970 Deluxe Seat Belt Question

Hello

I have a 1970 Cutlass Supreme. It has the Deluxe seatbelts. It has both lap and sholder belts in front. All the belts work EXCEPT the drivers lap belt. The female receptor (the buckle where the GM emblem is) does not lock, I guess the spring is bad, it's loose and rattles around. What would be the best solution to fix this. I temporarily swapped the passenger side belt to the driver side so at least I have a working belt when I drive it.

So is there a place I can send the one belt and get the buckle fixed fairly inexpensively? Can I buy just this one belt new? If I were looking for a used one what is it called. Can I repair it myself? Again this is just the buckle for the driver lap belt, it's smaller than the center and rear lap buckles.

Thanks in advance!

I am one of those folks that will just tear in to something like that and try to fix it myself. Sometimes this is a mistake , but most of the time it works out OK. It may be that the spring has simply come off of the retainer. You might try to pry the cover off of the female portion and see what is what. The covers are very stubborn, but can be removed. Be careful as you take the cover off so you don't loose any parts.........

X2 I have fixed a bunch of seat-belts myself. many of the parts are available on-line if needed. If it becomes an issue SnakeOyl (SP?) repairs seat-belts and re-webs them as well.
