Restoring air vents

I'm restoring a 70 Cutlass SX. The vents in the dash had a silver or bright chrome trim on the border. What is the best way to restore the chipped, scratched and faded trim.

Many of us had good luck with the silver metallic 'sharpie' pens...

Try your local Arts & Crafts store. As an alternative, you can use an artists brush and some Testors silver model paint. Take the vents apart and tape them off with blue painters tape. You'll likely have to visit the same store to purchase the brush and paint. But there is an upside. The Arts & Crafts stores are usually frequented by pretty ladies. So, there you go.

I took mine apart, and had them vacuum metallized (plastic chrome).

Looks way better than the silver sharpie.

Use ChromeTech.

I think I did all the vents in my car for less than $75.

2 side vents, center dash vent, and 2 lap vents.

They also did my gauge bezel.

Give them a call - they do nice work.

I have seen the sharpies at the local big box home and hardware stores. It is about $4 but does not look like chrome. However the bright even silver looks nice, kinda like aluminum. Great compromise for a driver...

The good looking friendly ones can probably be found in the country at rodeos!
The hobby stores in my area (big city) are mostly filled with overweight, snooty soccer moms.
