72 4 speed console chrome shift boot trim ring

I've got an aftermarket 4 speed console in my 72 442 (converted manual from auto). The chrome trim ring that surrounds the rubber shift boot and the boot itself loosen and raise up every few days from shifting. There are some pins extending down on the trim ring that go through the rubber boot and holes in the console mount, but that's all there is to hold it in place. Is there supposed to be anything else that holds the chrome trim ring down?

There are supposed to be speed nuts,or the flat, square, sheetmetal shaped clips, that you press on.You can get ones that will work,at Lowes,in the hardware section.they are #4 or #6 size.If I get a chance,I can look at my bag at home.

Ah, thought there might be something missing. I'm sure I've got a few of those laying around. Just kind of a pain taking the console up to get to.
