Door Unlock stems for a 59

My question is: were there trim rings around those stems? My car (59 98) doesn't have them, but it seems odd they aren't there. Help?

My 53 doesn't have any, either, and it was very, very complete in terms of trim. Six years is a long time, I guess, but there it is, for what it's worth.

I had a completely original 60 Chevy years ago that did not have them. The 64 Starfires have them, so it was apparently changed sometime early 60s.
