Glove Box Lock Removal w/o Key

Wanting to remove the glove box **** to clean and detail on a 72 A body - however the key I have does not fit the lock (it's unlocked now) Is there anyway to take it apart besides the method in the CSM?

I saw that method in the CSM I didnt have a key either. mine was unlocked I pushed the latch portion all the way in one direction either towards the body of the lock or away from it ( i dont recall) and turned the **** as if opening the glovebox. In the "window" called out in the CSM I could see the retainer. I pushed it in w a pick and it all came apart sorry for the vagueness I forget stuff quick

Exactly. If you turn the cylinder to the point where it would come out if you had the key, you can pick each tumbler past the stop, one at a time, as you pull it out.

Then you can take it to a locksmith (or use the CSM to figure out the parts and buy them online), and have it keyed to match your trunk key.
