Well i dont' know if they're at all similar, but i think they are... (89 cultass ciera)
but when i put my stereo in, i had to remove all of that jazz... the screws to remove it were behind the vents. i just took a flat head screw driver and put in in the side and pushed them to the side and then out. removed them all to make sure I found them all. then after that was removed. i just kept finding screws ... the ones for the cigarette lighter were just in the corners of the deal that pulls out to reveal that and the ash tray... (just so you know it took myself and my dad an entire afternoon to do this... granted instead of buying an adapter we soldered all the wires.) there were also some screws at the very bottom of the dash... the plastic that covers all the electrical underneath/behind the steering wheel, guages, radio, glove compartment.i can't remember if you need to remove the intire dash or not... i doubt it. But should you need to there are some screws under the windshield defrost vent... be sure to get some torx drivers... gm seems to swear by them, well i suppose they did develop the bit. hope this helps. |

There are two vertical screws to remove then only spring loaded retainer clips that hold the pannel in all four corners. The screws are located above the radio on the horizontal section of the trim, just position your head by the ash tray by the floor and look up you cant miss them. After removing the screws and the radio knob, use a hook/cotter pin remover tool to get behind the trim and pull out. Easy Day.
