Gas Tank sender hiting tube?

Has anyone else experienced a problem with an aftermarket sending unit( parts place) maybe having the arm bent wrong and it hits the filler tube on a 72 cutlass or a aftermarket tank made wrong(specta canadian made)? It starts at empty fine, then as you fill it stops moving at almost 1/2 tank and stays there. It worked fine outside of the tank. I really can't wait to tear it out again. Dave

Oh man, I'm keeping an eye on this thread.

I just installed a new Spectra tank this past Monday with a RobbMc sender. No problems thus far.

The factory float bends 90 degrees to the drivers side, sounds like your float is catching on something? filter sock? sunken log?

At a quick glance it looked to be the same as the origional one, but I'm thinking it must be bent slightly off or just enough longer that it catches. It still reads from 1/2 tank down,I'm waiting til I get a couple gas cans empty to drain the liquid gold into, then try again. Dave
