Intake Air Quality

Hi, My '67 Olds Cutlass (330c.i. w/4bbl. Edelbrock 1406) has valve cover breather filters which emit visible fumes during engine operation. The air filter is sandwiched between two chrome dishes with the perimeter of the filter exposed for air intake. I'm sure the fumes are being sucked into the carb., making the mixture dirty and very hot. Any ideas out there as to maybe using some sort of remote air intake like the K&N kits? Should I try a hood scoop? Any ideas are greatly appreciate! Thanks, Jim

So you're not running a PCV valve? If you are, it's apparently not working, and if you're not, that's why you are getting blowby oil smoke out of the breathers. Fix that, not the air filter.
