Just bought a 1957 J2

The 1957 olds I just bought has triple carbs and has been owned by same person for 40 years. Is there something in the vin that tells if its a factory J2? Thanks for any help.

Jeff, welcome to our site. I don't think the vin will give you that information but if you have any other documentation, a build sheet or something, that would help. Does the PO have any information or documentation he forgot to supply? A query might be worth it on your part.

Tell us a little more about your Olds. is it a 88, Super 88, of 98. The J2 was a factory option so could have been ordered on any model. Several J2 manifold and carbs have been install on the ower compression 371's by owners wanting that option so its hard to tell if it is original without tracking it back to the original sale and looking at the order sheet. Your chances are good that it is original seeing as how it has been owned by the same person for 40 years.
