455 manifold

I have a 1971 cutlass that I took out a 350 motor with a 350 transition. I purchased a 455 with C heads. Can I use the 350 intake with the existing 4-barrel carburetor (for now until I can afford to change them) I will change the exhaust because it had single exhaust so I will add the headers now.

You can not use the intake. The 455 intake is much wider than a 350.

pete I am sure ( at least in jersey) you can get a junkyard 455 manifold on the cheap, I say this because getting one from ebay could be cheap but the shipping would kill you. you would probably be able to use the 350 quadrajet , may not be the "optimum" set up but it would work.

Check craigslist, I have bought two edelbrock performer aluminum manifolds for 125 to 150 dollars each.

Lest expensive away around it? Put the 350 back in. Save your self some headaches.

Be careful with used aftermarket aluminum intakes for the 455, some makes were prone to cracking underneath and then repaired. I found one at a swap meet for $80, but it was once cracked and had been welded.

Can you use a 1968Toronado manfold unit? It has a lower profile than rear drive brothen.

Pete, shipping the factory cast iron manifold would be expensive due to the weight. If you would post your location there maybe someone on this board close by who has a spare laying around as Toro68 does. John

Its no too bad. Fedex ground will do it for apox $35-40.00

Large size will eat your lunch before weight does.

You can buy a repro at the Parts Place for around $500. They even make repro "D" heads and a conversion kit for automatics changing over to manual transmissions.
