Starfire Tristar headlight rings
Just lost a set of these on e-Bay. My 64 coupe has them but the same year convertible does not. Anyone know if these where just on early production models? Seen very few 64 Starfires with these in place. Winning bid was $102.50 Could not justify the expense right now, for a project that is still in a million pieces, in my garage.

If there is a big enough demand for these guys it might make for a good opportunity to make a mold and reproduce a few dozen sets. Seems I do recall that someone like J.C. Whitney had a look-a-like item in their catalog back in the day of everyone wanting a Euro look for their quad headlamps.

Doubt you'd find a nice set any cheaper, and they're about impossible to rechrome without destroying them. They have an aluminum retainer ring inside that's held onto the diecast with swaged potmetal studs, and if the ring comes loose the bezel won't stay on. I've had to fix both my sets using a hot glue gun.
They are on early 64 Starfires. Production change was made around November 63. One of those cost-saving measures same as the script location change on 63 coupes. I've seen some later Lansing-built cars with them (i.e. my green coupe), but unsure if they were added. Texas, those JC Whitney pieces fit under the headlamp retaining ring and have a pointy tip on the bullet instead of the Starfires blunt dimpled one. I wouldn't grumble too much if someone used them, since there was an attempt made to duplicate the original style stuff.
