vacuum advance

First off, forgive my novice question here. I'm still trying to figure out a few things since my friend doing the engine work passed away.

He has installed a Pertronix Ignitor kit in my distributor. http://www.pertronix.com/prod/ig/ignitor/default.aspx

I also got a Pertronix ignition coil (Flame Thrower, to be exact) to go with it.

My question, however lies with the vacuum advance. Do I need one with this set up? If so, I need to buy a new one.

If the car is street driven, vacuum advance will get you better mileage - if it is a strip car, or you are running a really low gear, it won't do much
