Been surfing site for a while. Been a member of OP & ROP for some years. Do a lot of reading & learning but only post when I am absolutely sure of something or have personal experience w/ something & feel I can contribute. Been messing w/ Olds since high school in late 70's, had lots of 68-71 Cutlass/442/W-31(70) & a '65 442. Remember the days of dealing w/ Joe Mondello on the phone & the guys @ Kenne-Bell. Have a nicely restored 70 OAI convertible that I drive frequently in season & not scared to take it out for a ride or two in winter if the streets are in decent condition, occasional show & track day as well. This spring I will help my 17 year old son finish up his nicely restored 70 Supreme. First car project that he started @ 13, everything short of frame off. He disassembled car, sandblasted & painted the underside, rebuilt all suspension, disassembled & helped reassemble fresh engine, cc'd heads, you name it. Need to finish up interior(buckets, console, dual gate) & install sound system. He will have a beautiful(nicely done body,Ferrari Red,SSII's), sporty car without too much power(I won't show him how to adjust the secondary air valve for a long time). Runs & drives very nicely. A great lesson in delayed gratification & working toward a goal, should help ensure he treats & drives it w/ respect. Hope I can learn something here & there, contribute occasionally and get some entertainment on classicolds.

Welcome

Welcome to the site.

Sounds like you'd be a great contributer on Olds and parenting. We'd love to see some pics.

FYI

Becuase of spammers we had to set up this newbie thread, [even for us old pharts] so we could catch spam early. After you posted 5 times [and 2 days] you will be able to post anywhere.

Glad to have you on board.

Welcome to the site. It's great to hear about projects that involve a father and son or daughter restore of an Oldsmobile. Sure cements a relationship and its a lot of fun as well. I know I have enjoyed working on cars with my sons. Show some pictures when you get a chance

Thanks guys. I think the kid is likely to stick w/ Facebook and AIM! He does have a sweet little car though. I'll have to figure out how to post pics some time as both cars are very nicely restored.
