61-62 cruise control linkage question
heres my problem
I have been asked to reproduce the 61-62 cruise control linkage for a couple of guys and I have a sample. On the original piece the thread is a 1/4-32 (not standard) I can cut a 1/4-28 (unf) The part that this fits in I don't have and I need to know if it is threaded or is it a clearance hole and its held by a nut on each side. If somebody out there has a cruise control could you please let me know. Also would it be possible for the clevis to be rethreaded to a 1/4-28? Attached is two photos showing the new and the old. Thank you for this |

I can't help you on the fit but I can tell you I came up against the same problem with my throttle Linkage on my 57 Olds and in that case the rod threaded into a clevis that connected to the carb. I re-threaded the Clevis and it worked out fine. I think you could also by a thread die from a machine supplu shop. Good luck

Thanks Citcapp I have looked for dies for my die head they are just way to expensive for what I have to make.I have looked for a hand die and can only find standard thread. If you rethreaded your unit then I'm going to go ahead and make them, these units were used on GM for different makes and models as a dealer option only.
59-59-59 I believe in 63 it became a factory option up till then it was dealer only.my 62 starfire does't have it but some friends of mine do, but are not sure how they go together as they are missing pieces and I have complete dealer package for my 63 olds I'm trying to help them out. These units from what I've been told are the same as caddy under the hood but different on the dash and throttle hook up . |
