Radio keeps shorting out

I have a 1966 Delta 88 convertible. I installed a JVC dvd/cd receiver and everytime I push on the brake, it shuts the receiver off. The receiver comes back on most of the time, but sometimes it doesnt until a week or two later. It works fine until I push the brake. Can anyone help me?

You need to verify that your charging system is good; battery, cables and alternator. Rusty or corroded brake lamp sockets, bad wiring, or loose contacts in the fuse block itself could be loading down the 12volt source and if the charging system is not up to speed then the voltage drops. Normally, old wiring doesn't cause this kind of problem. After you correct your charging system problem then you can check the sockets and wiring in the brake lamp system and fix them up if needed. finally, I assumed you wired the unit according to the instructions so I didn't address that but a nice clean installation that is fused correctly shouldn't cause any trouble.
