What do you want to know? It was a precursor to the HEI, using the same magnetic pickup inside the distributor. The large electronics box in the UHV system was shrunk to the small ignition module inside the HEI but does the same function. The UHV also used a special high voltage coil. This system (with a Chevy distributor, naturally) was also offered on Corvettes of the same vintage. My 68 W-30 has this system.

Thanks Joe. I just wasn't aware of this at all, particularly I wouldn't have expected it as early as 1968. Very interesting.

I had a '67 Toronado that had that. It was a pleasant surprize. I didn't know it had it. The box was hidden behind the vacuum tank for the headlights and the red cap had been replaced. I couldn't see/wasn't looking at the coil. I don't know why I pulled the air cleaner after I got it home and immediately noticed the red coil and had a pretty good idea what it meant. I got the shop manual and found the location for the box and there it was. Bonus!
