Starter Wiring

There are 3 wires to a 455 starter. Power from the Battery, wire for keystart, and a third wire. Were does the 3rd wire go?

On pre-HEI cars that wire supplies 12 volts to the points for a hotter spark while starting. It connects to the 's' terminal on the solenoid.

Actually, the third wire (usually yellow) goes on the "R" terminal. The larger purple wire goes on the "S" terminal.
