looking to upgrade from points to HEI on my 68 442. whats the best HEI upgrade system? who has done this on their olds?

Hi. First, I hate to respond to a question, with a question, but..What size engine? Are you looking for a newer stock hei distridutor, or are you looking to replace the points in yours with an electronic aftermarket.? Let us know.

its a stock 400. id just like to upgrade from the old points style. what would suggest?

You might also consider an aftermarket upgrade which replaces the points with an electronic triggering device. Petronics makes a kit and so do some other outfits. Better triggering, no wear, accurate dwell are advantages. Then later, if you wish to go high performance you can even add one of those electronic controls like the MSD6. Just a thought. You won't have to remove your old distributor as I think most of those kits can be addes with the distributor on the car.

I have one of those on my 66 Cutlass and it rocks. I added a MSD coil and it really makes the car easy to start and it seems to have a quicker response.
