69 olds cuttlass convertible

I have a 1969 oldsmobile cutlass convertible and the top will only go down it will not come back up. It has worked since i bought it 5 years ago and one day it just stopped. I took out the switch and hard wired it to see if it was the switch but it still does the same thing. Any suggestions

Get a trouble light and see if u r getting power at the switch. Possibly bad ground.

Is the top motor running at all? Have you checked for power at the switch?

the motor is running. the switch has three wires one power, one goes down and one goes up. I removed the switch and used just wires but the power to it only goes down and when i connect the wires to go up it has no power. Not sure if there is a relay that might have gone bad or if one of the wires has been cut somehow i traced the wires from the motor to the dash and it looks ok but i can't see where they go behind the dash. Any idea if there is a relay that might have gone bad and where it is located. I have looked in what little manuals they have for this car and can't find anything
