Nuetrial Safety Switch

I am switching out the TH 350 for a TH 400 in my 69 cutlass. The TH 400 has a nuetral safety switch were the 350 i pulled out did not. I checked the my book and it says that this has to be wired from Pink wire on the harness. I have peeled the wires back to the firewall and no pink wire. Any thoughts?

The neutral safety switch is not on the transmission, it is under the steering column. No wiring runs through the transmission itself.

I'm betting what you saw was the downshift solenoid wire. The TH400 has an electrically controlled downshift ("passing gear") while the TH350 is actuated by a cable from the accelerator pedal.

I agree with C.J. What I've done is switched out the gas pedal assembly and replaced it with one that has the kickdown switch attached to it, and doesn't have the second cable attachment used by the TH 350. The first car I made the trannie swap in I didn't change this over.... and didn't know why it wouldn't kick into passing gear!!!
