72 Supreme Signal, lights not working

I have a 72 cutlass supreme and the signal lights have just started to blow the fuse. The four way flashers work and the lights all work. Could I have a short in the signal light wiring in the steering column?
Any ideas before I buy a new wiring harness.
thanks

It is a possibility that the wiring in the column is at fault, but it is by no means the only possibility. The wiring for the turn signal switch is part of the switch, & if you buy a new switch, you're buying new wiring from the switch to the connector on top of the lower steering column. As a quick check, you can plug a new switch (or good used switch) into the column wiring connector under the dash & actuate it -see if you still have the problem. If the problem disappears, the problem is the switch in the column.
