Turn signal switch replacement options

My 65 Delta 88 lost the front parking lamps and turn signal function. Not voltage at sockets. I am guessing the turn signal switch has given out.Besides paying $140+ for an NOS unit is there some kind of aftermarket switch that is a most cost efficient alternative? I have seen a few gasoline engine Cushmans that had a simple chrome switch mounted on the steering column.

If you don't have park or turn lamps, it's something other than the turn signal switch.

if you find out that it is the turn switch, i have a 66 98 that i am parting and has a very nice one in it. if it is the same you can have it for $30. if you need anything else off of it let me know. i don't know how much will be the same.

Headlight switch? I find it odd that both park/turn lamps are out simultaneously.

65 vs 66 turn signal switches

There were at least two variants during these years: non-tilt & tilt

In '66 they went to tilt & tele, but I think the bowden cable switch from 65 carried over..

So your basic question is do you have a tilt column or not. That determines what switch you're looking for.

I've found the tilt & tele switch to be a weak design. From what I can tell the cable stretches and you can't quite get a right turn signal going without jamming the plastic switch. This eventually breaks the brittle switch inside the column, which are 45 years old now..

Also, the 65 and 66 big car wiring harnesses are very, very similar. The biggest difference I can remember is the door jamb switches -- they were big round discs in 65 and went to the standard GM small diameter orange/white in '66.

Oh, before you condemn the switch..

There are connectors between the turn signal lights and the harness under the bumper. Very unlikely that both went at the same time, but check for corrosion and connection at each connector. If you have 12v there, you might be able to save the cost of a switch.

And fuses, light switch, the usual suspects...

The column in non tilt/tele. I do have a tilt/tele from a 66 98 that I was going to replace my column in the car. Now I am second guessing the cable switch.

UPDATE

Fuses, light bulbs, etc all are ok.

Partial culprit was mice chewing on wires.
