1987 olds delta 88
Hi all, great site! I have a 187 olds dekta 88. The catylitic converter was making a loud rattling noise inside of it for a little while and i put off changing it cause it quited down but the other day i went to start the car and it would turn over and stop then turn over again. I checked and topped up the oil and it started up but i went vack to start it again later and it just turns over and over with a small backfire coming from the catylitic. It seems to turn over extremely easy now. I am getting spark but after cranking it over i noticed exhaust coming from the open end of the air intake that attached to the maf sensor. This tells me that the cat is probably blocked but will that blockage stop the car from starting and if it is blocked would that have cause something internal to have let go cause like i say it cranks over really easy now. Thanks for any help and sorry if i didnt explain this matter to well. Also does anyone know how old a car has to be to be able to replace the cat with a pipe legally.I live in northern ontario, Canada.
