What kind of car is my step dad talking about ?

Hey guys, i just found out my step dad recently owned an Oldsmobile right before i met him. Aparantly it was a 1964 Super 88 with a 396 rocket, mated to a backwards trasmission, it went P D 2 1 N R. It was a 4 door. This is what he told me. is this true ? can i have some more details as to what he was talking about ? because it sounds cool, but i think he might have been mixing up numbers

61-64 Olds have reverse at the bottom. Maybe other years but these are what I have owned.

A 1964 Super 88 would have had a 330 hp 394 cid engine and a Slim Jim HydraMatic transmission. The shift sequence was P NDSL R. S88 engines were 4-barrel 10.25 CR single exhaust.
All 1964 Super 88s were 4-door cars, either a Celebrity Sedan (with B pillar and window frames) or a Holiday Sedan (4-door hardtop).

Shift pattern would have looked something like this:

Takes less time than you would think to get used to .

Thats really cool, thanks for the info. Your right about the shift pattern. And your probably right about the engine too. Its too bad its not around anymore, i would have loved to buy it from him. Apparently someone hot rodded it, and cracked the block though. No Joke : (
