Motors going in a 50 Olds 88 coupe???
The new 50 Olds coupe i bought has or maybe has a 58 Olds non-runner??? no tranny. My first first 2 - 50 coupes had 303's one with the 52 or 53 4bl & manifold a big Loud Screaming Rochester.
At the house i have a 500 Caddy w/auto, not running for sale listed on the site. A 66 Caddy Convertible 429 > Auto running & driving with a rusted out Chassis, 10 to 1 comp. > 340 horsepower & lot of torque I like the 303's i had a long time ago lots of fun. Showed my fabricator buddy the photo of # 3 coupe. He told me he sold a running 58 Olds J-2 to a guy in the 70's, that he never put it in anything He said the 58 had a better valve train then the 57 A friend of ours build a nice 57 88 convertible, think it has a J-2? What is a good or going price for the 58 Olds J-2 complete motor??? If the 58 Olds J-2 isn't available any thoughts on the 66 429 Caddy with a automatic going in the coupe??? a closer cousin than a Chevy .. 5 more hp than a 409 2-4 car The Factory stock weight's on the 1950 88 coupe > 3,455 lbs & 66 Caddy Deville convertible > 4.445 lbs The 88 is 990 lbs lighter I'd say with the cast iron hydro and the lighter turbo case it might be a wash, making the 88 coupe > 990 lbs lighter ... and stock horsepower figures > from 135 hp to 340 hp See Chevy's are going in some Olds here.
