Help separating Tranny from Engine 52 rocket

Ok, First off thanks for any help you guys can give me. I just got a siezed 1952 Rocket 88. From a customer of mine for trade on a tattoo. So I pulled the engine, I've unbolted everything I can find on the tranny but so far I can only slide it back about a half inch. I'm getting really really frustrated. I dont want to force anything. I spent all day on christmas eve trying to separate the damn thing and the only thing I seem to be getting outta this is a separation from the wife.

Is it automatic or manual? If you can pull it back 1/2 inch, you should see daylight, and anything still attached to either the bellhousing, or transmission you should be able to see, might be hung on guide pins. If you can be more explecite, someone might be more able to help.

Tranney removal hydromatic

Have you removed the 26 or 28 1/4x 28 bolts that are attached to the flex plate? Is the starter motor out of the car? Just a couple things that come to mind.Mine came loose with no problems after I did the above. Tedd

if u dont see anything stil contcting the case, pins are a likely bet. try spraying penetrating oil and see if u can rock it side to side or use a heavy prybar.

I agree with Tedd, flexplate to converter bolts if it is automatic.

'52 should have 5/16-24 x 45/64" bolts. They hold the torus cover to the flywheel (not flex plate).

All 32 of them will have to come out, in order to access the flywheel to crankshaft bolts. Pull the engine oil pan, and start loosening/removing main and rod caps, until you can turn the crank.
