1955 Olds 88 4dr Holiday

Just to give those of you who would be interested, I picked up a '55 Olds 88 4dr Holiday for parts. I have a '55 Olds 88 non-Holiday so there are parts I will not be able to use. If your interested let me know.

I'm doing a complete overhaul on a 1955 324 engine. While taking the rocker arm assemblies apart one broke. Would you be willing to sell the complete rocker arm assembly or just the the rocker pivots. If so how much

No skirts ( I got a pair from e-bay). Have 2 tanks. One from mine and the other from the parts car. Both need cleaning etc. I just purchaced Por 15 tank restore. Going to give it a try on one and see how it goes. Both tanks held fuel half way up till the seam. Pin holes on the top's.

1955 Olds Super 88

rfaller, To make sure of the details, the car I stripped was a 1955 Olds, 4dr, Holiday (no post). I have been slowly auctioning parts off on e-bay but wanted this list to know as well because we love Olds and hoping to help out a fellow Olds guy. The majority of the parts are interior/exterior trim with some exceptions (rear glass, radio, speakers, spedo/gauge cluster etc) No engine parts, did not come with one. The front and rear bumper, including the front hood trim, were pretty rough.

What Olds do you have?

i have a 55 4door post car 88.its from Ca and the body is near perfect. interior is shot(seats, door panels, ect)i've surprisingly found complete interior packages pretty cheap. i may do it myself though. i want to do some custom designs and colors.exterior wise, body is great, all the stainless is great. headlight buckets are rough and bumpers are solid but in need of rechroming. the chrome trim piece under the hood edge is shot.i havent torn it apart yet so i dont know if there will be anything else i need yet. hope not.motor(324) is frozen but i'll probably go with a big block anyway.i'll keep an eye on your ebay sales. do you list under the same name?

What is "Por 15 tank restore"? Someone local uses POR-15 products to restore a tank for you? I suppose you bring them a tank? Where did you get the good tank from? You said the original one from your car leaked at the seam.

I don't yet know what shape mine is in, but that's where I'm going to start with getting the car on the road again prior to frame-off. Does anyone sell new 54 Olds fuel tanks? I THINK I'd rather start with a new one; I'm not emotionally attached to the original one.

Thanks, guys, for the fuel tank answers.

Not to argue, but just to show what I found: fusick has "fuel tanks sending units" but not fuel tanks - at least in the catalog. I did not call them (yet). Fusick also does not have the "Oldsmobile" letters for the hood of a 54, though it has nearly all the other years.

Regarding get a tank built locally or otherwise, I'm not going to laugh at the idea of dropping $750 on a stainless if that's what it takes. I do like my money, though, and would like to keep as much of it as possible in my own pocket. I will look around. Some might say that stainless is overkill, but anything else requires coatings for protection or looks anyway.

I didn't even think about the idea of having one custom made by local experts. (There are good tradesmen all over.) Someone with skill, knowledge of what is required of a gasoline tank for automobile use, and the original one to copy from, could probably do just what I need.

try calling them just to see. maybe you'll get lucky. they dont put everything in the catalogs.another place to check is hemmings motor news. i'm not sure if u can check them online or not but most libraries carry a current copy. i'm just starting my 55 project so i dont know where else to look yet. i'll keep an eye out. stainless is pretty pricy but if your doing the rest of the car, why not. you can probably have a steel tank made for about a third of that price, but like you said, you still gotta paint it.i will keep watching and let you know if i run across anything.

A picture is worth more than a few words. This one is from the 1954 Oldsmobile Shop Manual.

The Holiday is the pillarless hardtop - no post between the front-seat glass and the back-seat glass.
