she's finally home!

well kids after a long two days of waiting i got my 62 home. she drives like a dream and is just as pretty faded paint rotted seats and all, but the one problem i had is the generator not giving out enough juice t run the headlights. My question is should i look into a new or rebuilt generator or convert to alternator? now after doing some research i am totally confused.........i have found alternators for it but it ooks like a generator so now i need more info from the olds gods

Hello, good to hear you are enjoying your new ride, Your generator may not be the problem, it could be the regulator (I read this in another post awhile back) you could also take your generator down to auto zone or another friendly repair shop, and have them test it on their equipment.

thanks i checked it out and its actully a generator with a bad voltage regulator. aside from that everything works just had to tie up some loose wires and change out some fuses, the radio even still works!. hopefully this week i am going to get the alternator on it and start replacing bulbs. On another note i found out it was a one owner car (the guy i bought it from never drove it or rgistered it dont know if that counts) but with a new battery, plugs and wires, some fresh oil she fired right up. nothing but carbon build up coming out of the exhaust and no oil leaks.
