My 56 Olds 88 pictures
Here are some pictures of the car! Let me know what you think! Mostly original and in pretty nice shape if I may be so bold.

With a car like that you have the right to be bold. Love that car.

You can definitely be bold. That is one gorgeous piece of history. Give us some history? How much is original? Any past restors? What are your plans?

As much as I would love to keep it, I am fixing it up to sell it. It really doesn't need much. Had just been sitting a while in a garage. Needed a fuel pump, fuel tank, sending unit, water pump and seems to need a timing chain.
The fuel and water pump are done, I just got a NOS fuel tank for it and have a sending unit coming. I will sell it with or without the timing chain replaced. It runs fine but has a bit of noise due to slack (that is my diagnosis anyway). The previous owner said he has owned it for years and his wife drove it on nice weekends. He has two Pro Mod race cars and no longer had time to fool with it. The car has been restored some time ago. The interior is nicer than it looks in the pictures. The exterior is as nice as it looks and the car is SOLID beyond belief. It seems VERY original mechanically. The paint and body have been done as well as the interior (gorgeous). Understand, I am not on this board to sell the car, I am an Olds guy (had a 70 442 ram air and a 70 ram air 442 vert in the past) but family and other priorities mean I just can't keep it. This seems to be a great board with a wealth of knowledgeable people and I can appreciate that. Trust me, it is the kind of car I would like to hold on for a LONG time (and have hit the wife up to do so.) but it is just not in the cards right now. Warren.. |

Awesome!
Hey, can you please post some pics of the engine compartment? I just picked up a 56 Ninety Eight, and I'm trying to figure out where some things go under the hood. Specifically the vacuum hoses to the wiper motor. And by the way, how much would you sell it for as-is, without doing the work? And would you happen to have any parts for it? I'm interested in anything you might have! Thanks! |

I don't have an engine picture right now but will get some asap. It's very original looking. I also have the air cleaner off. ( I stripped it and will be repainting it)
But there are two vacuum lines coming off of the fuel pump (top). They both tee in together and then go to a port in the center of the wiper motor. There is another vacuum line that comes off the back of the carb and goes to the other port on the wiper motor (ps). I am going from memory but will run out to the garage to verify. I am not looking to get rich off the car. I will sell it as is for $10k.. The ONLY thing the car really needs (after I install the fuel tank and sending unit) is the timing chain replaced. Again, it runs, just makes noise at idle. I assure you, it is a NICE car. If it were a Chevy it'd be $30k.. It still has the original dual snorkel air cleaner and most other original style parts.. Appears to also be the original spare and jack in the trunk. I don't have alot of spare parts other than a replacement oil filter element and drive belt.
