1968 Delmont 88 convertible

My dad has one of these in southern Minnesota that has been sitting the shed since the late 70's. He'll be offering it for sale soon, but we don't know what engine it has in it. What is probably in it? It LOOKS like a 454/455. If it's not that particular big-block, then what else MIGHT it be?

My dad and his two brothers have been deeply involved with cars since their teens in the early 50's, so for them not to be able to come to a conclusion on this engine is shocking, but there ya go. I guess they just lack the proper documentation.

I'm pretty sure all the convertibles had 455s, but it could possibly have a 350. Easiest check is look at the heads. 1968 was first year for both engines. 65-67 had 330 and 425.

Facing the head, look at lower left corner. If there's a letter (should be "C" for 1968) it is a 455. A 4 or 5 will indicate a 350.

Thanks, rocketraider. I'll have my brother get out there and check with the flashlight.
