Rear end help
I'm trying to figure out what rear end can bolt right into my 1985 Delta 88. (B-body)
I'm looking at Moser, and Strange does not make a direct bolt in rear for this car. I know that a 91 to 96 Impala rear uses the same suspension, but is also a little bit wider, so I doubt the suspension and mounting points will line up correctly ( I know the bolt pattern is different, but I can get it in the right bolt pattern 5 x 4.75) Right now the car has a 7.5 ring gear, open rear, 3.42 gears I put in with 26 spline axles. I don't need it right now, but after a while I might, with that 350 Rocket pounding on it ![]() |

Moser and Strange should be able to build an axle in any width you want for a price. If you're looking for a junkyard axle, any 77-90 B, C, or D-body RWD axle should bolt in. Do not use the wagon axles, as they are wider. Best bet is a Caprice cop car or taxi.

Rear end help
Also double check your bolt pattern I am pretty sure a delta 88 had the full size 5 x 5 bolt pattern. Make sure you measure themm correct 5 lugs get measured from the outside of a stud to the center of the accross stud. If not we can get some axles for you or you should be able to pull the ones you have and fit them in the other housing as long as you have a 1989 and older 10 bolt 8.5 rear. Some of the early 70's 8.5 rears came with bolt in axles...What do you have? Jim
I would do the caprice /roadmaster rear also they have 30 spline axles and some decent gear ratios also. 3.08 3.23 2.93 And with a 8.5 you have a wide varity of gears to choose from because they still build these rears in full size trucks and suv GM vehicles |

Actually the 77-85 Delta 88s could have come with either the 5 x 4.75 or the 5 x 5 bolt pattern. As an example, the 1977 Indy Pace Car Delta 88 used the 5 x 4.75 bolt pattern and had A-body SSIII rims with the rare "starfish" center caps. I've always liked the look of that car...

I have the 7.5 ring gear rear and the 5 x 4.75 bolt pattern.
I didn't know the wagon rears were wider too, but I knew they were mostly 8.5 rings. I know what b bodies are, what are c and d bodies? |

The C-body is the RWD Olds 98, Buick Electra, etc. The D body is the Fleetwood. All C and D-body cars have 5 x 5" bold circles.
