How much rear tire on a 68?
I am using 15x7 olds rallyes. I just bought a pair of 255/60/15 for the rear, and 235/60/15 for the front.
I do NOT currently have a rear anti-sway bar, and I know the car rolls quite a bit around the corners. Will these tires be a problem before I get a rear bar in there? |

I'm running 245 14s on mine, had 235/ 70 15s on an f85. by the clearance on those, I don't imagine you will have a problem. Especially if you are running factory wheels. you might have some clearance issues up front though, not sure off the top of my head.

Not quite... mine is a post car.
Funny story. This past weekend I went to a car show about 20 miles from the house. Sure enough there was a willow gold 68 post car with the same interior. It was kinda scary how similar the car was. I should have checked the VIN numbers. When I told the owner I had the identical car he was kinda like... yeah... so.... I dunno.. I totally agree. When I saw your car, even though it's a post, it intrigued me to see it. It makes me remember when everybody had these cars as daily drivers. They were very mundane and were utility vehicles for families. Heck, I just like seeing another nice Cutlass at a show let alone one that looks like mine. Actually mine looks like yours. I think you had it first. Those tires fit really nice btw. Gives the car a muscular look. Great choice. I forgot something. I have a 71 vette. There was a site where you could find out when your Vette was built by using the last 5 digits of the vin. It turned out my Vette was built on my birthday in 1971 when I was 9. Imagine that!

A similar thing happened to me shortly after I bought my 65 Impala SS. I found documentation in the glove box with the original owners name and address. I spent about an hour finding his phone number through information, etc. I called him up and told him that I now owned his car, 2500 miles away and 30 years later.
That guy must have been related to the Olds guy... Sometimes we have to remember that to some people these are just cars.... |
