Will 14 inch rallys fit on a 77?
#2
I know that 1976 used a 11" rear brake drum, and that required a 15" wheel. The brake drum should have a max. diameter number cast into it, that will tell you if it's the large 11" or the smaller 9.5" that will work with a 14" rim. So if you don't get a solid answer to your question remove a wheel and see how large the brake drum is. John

It should be ok. The 15's on the 76 Cutlass were reserved for those with the factory tow package. As with the Monte Carlo and Regal as well as Century, 14's were stock. If the brake drums are full size the car most likely was to have been or was set up with the tow package.

Rally Wheels
Hi Yogi, I didn't know that they were tow package only. I picked up a set at the bone yard a couple years ago to put on my 1971 Cutlass Wagon. I haven't got around to it yet, but have been told its a bolt on project that will upgrade the rear drums. The one caveat I've been told is I'll have to put on 15 inch wheels. About 5 years ago I bought a clunker 1974 Cutlass because it had the 15X7 bolt on center cap wheels on it. I put a set of 235/60/15 tires on them and like the look it gives the wagon. John

Trivia note: These 73-77 rear drums make a nice upgrade to earlier A-body cars.

Wheel/Brakes
Thanks Joe
I should have some more sets in my storage yard then! I like the idea of upgrading the brakes in a way that doesn't take more than a Saturday to do, I just have to get around to it! John

odd, I did not realize that there was some type of "posting style".
What is this hang up you have with this guy?
I don't know how to make it any clearer than I have. I do not nor ever have had a Cutlass or as you thought previously a 442 with anywhere near 600 hp.
Mine are basically stock 455 motors.
Hopefully this will appease this issue you seem to have with some other guy who for some reason shares an online id that I use and have for past couple years.
What is this site that this person belongs to that you keep confusing me with?
