Cool Deal or No Deal ??

Folks,

New to this forum and I figured this was the place to ask my question. There is a fellow at work (do not really know him), he is selling bone stock (and I mean REALLY STOCK) 1974 Cutlass "S" v8 350 4brl.

I saw the car the other day (without knowing it was for sale) and it looked really sharp. Car has 61,000M on it. He is asking 5,500 Canadian . I was wondering if this was alot? He is apparently 3rd owner.

Can anyone tell me what is the diff between the Cutlass and Cutlass "S"?

Thanks
R/T

Not much. In 74 there were two fundamentally different Cutlii bodies, the Cutlass (and Cutlass S) with the sloping back window and the Cutlass Supreme with the notchback roof. Mechanically the two were virtually identical. The main differences between Cutlass, Cutlass S, 442, etc. were all in the trim levels and the standard level of equipment.

By the way, things were a little different in the 80s when Olds called just about everything a "Cutlass" of some sort. There was the RWD Cutlass and Supreme, the FWD Cutlass Ciera (starting in 1982), and the FWD Cutlass Calais starting in 1985. These were all different cars, and just to confuse things, Olds had previously used the Cutlass Calais name on a RWD version.
