Talking Egr Removal Question

My EGR is bad and I'm not sure if I want to buy a new one or just remove it. I wanted to know the pros and cons of removing it and puting a block off plate there. I am off the computer and have no EPA concerns.

the only problem I have experienced on carbureted cars in SOME cases-- is a spark knock when there is limited or no egr flow.
