Is this Cruise Control for my '66 Cutlass????
I was going through my pile of Oldsmobile parts that I received with my car and I found something that looks like cruise control. Did Oldsmobile even offer cruise control in 66? It looks like it is vacuum controlled with an attachment for the throttle. I’ve included a picture….what is this?

Howdy,
Yes, Cutlasses did have cruise control in 1966, but I don't think the one you have is for that year. According to the 1966 Service manual, cruise control modules had the transmission and speedometer gear connectors on opposite ends, but your model has them placed side-by-side. Also, the sticker on the side of the unit mentions a "resume" feature. I think this is when you press a button, and the cruise control immediately goes to whatever speed you last had it set to. I don't think that ability existed in 1966. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Mister |

I thought it looked to modern to be a 60's piece. But I found it in a box of other stuff from my 66 Cutlass so I started to wonder.

Doesn't it also say "Diesel" on the label? I don't think Olds built a Diesel in '66.
