Need info for 1977 Cutlass
Hi everyone, my name is Andrew and I am in line to purchase a 1977 Cutlass Supreme. It is Triple Black with a 260 and a four-speed from the factory. I want to see if there is any sites with some comprehensive information on it. Another thing, I have a feeling the 260 is probably grossly anemic, so is there any sites on how to beef this little guy up? Can I just pull off all of the smog equipment and gain some HP?

Welcome to the site! I've never had a 260 but from what I've heard they're not a real powerhouse. Depending on how much work you want to do to the car you might consider putting in a different engine. In 1977 you could also get a 350 or a 403 in the Cutlass/442 chassis, and it wouldn't be too much work to transplant a big block in if you wanted to. You might want to check the size of the transmission and see how much power it can take. I've read that the factory 5 speed used in the late 1970's won't take the torque of a healthy V8. So especially if you decide to go with a big block you should see what model of transmission you have first.
