Drum to Disc Conversion on 78 Cutlass
Hello everyone,
I have a 78 Cutlass that I would like to replace the rear drum brakes with discs. Does anyone have good information on making that switch? Thanks! |

Welcome to our site. I got this link by reading a related post that mentioned the company "Stainless Steel Brake Company". I just went there and got this link, know nothing about them other than this....

SUPER OWIE on that price at stainlesssteelbrakes.com!!!! A GRAND!!!!
Try this one from www.inlinetube.com 7387RWBK-SE 1973-87 A-G-Body 10 Bolt Rear Disc Kit $599.00 I may be missing something on the first site listed, BUT.... I ALSO have been told that the disc brakes on the back of an S-10/blazer are a direct bolt up for the same application...As soon as I find that info again, I will post it. John |

Thanks for the additional information. If there is a swapable part that would be even better. If you happen to run across that I would be most interested.
Thanks again. |

Hi Guys,
I would like to know if the same set-up from an existing GM vehicle would work for my 1981 Malibu as well as a 1978 Cutlass. If you find the info I'm interested. Thanks, Barry

I agree on the HIGH SSBC price. I just put SSBC kits on the front and rear of my 69 Olds, and right after I did it, I found the InlineTube.com kits, and think that their kits are better, and they also have a lower price. Wish I had used their kits instead of SSBC. FWIW.

OK, the only thing I have come up with so far is a link to tech article link to highperformancepontiac.com. The title of the conversion is there, but I do not have a subscription to the mag to read about the conversion. I read it over a friends shoulder who has the subscription, but has not yet printed me copies of said article. It has late model Blazer rear disc brakes that were direct bolt up to the rears (not sure WHICH rears) of A body cars. Will do more research unless someone out there finds it first. If so please let ME know too....
