Quick starting question..
A buddy of my buddy, has a 455 olds thrown into his 70 cutlass. He says it starts up, but after getting about 5 minutes down the road, it dead quits. Like immediately. Instant shutoff, as if he just yanked the key. He claims it to be electrical. Im leaning more torwards fuel but... Could it be heat, that builds after some driving time, making something electrical not work? I dont know, but soon I will get to drive it to diagnose the problem a little more. Anything I should be looking for specifically? Thanks in advance.

How long since a tune up on it? Eliminate the basics first.

First things first...Dan's right. Don't forget the fuel filters.
Then more info, please. Points or HEI? Restart immediately? C.J.

I agree with the other guys, start with the most simple first and hope you find it soon! Several years ago I had a Cutlass with the point setup and the coil was going bad. It worked when the coil was cold, but when it warmed up it died. The old style coils are cheap, so that may be something to try. John
