New guy here in Ohio

Hello all. Just wanted to pop in and say hello. I currently bought a '65 Cutlass f-85. It is from California, and it is so rust free its sickening. There is still primer/paint under the trunk pan, floor panss, and rear wheel houses. The paint is shot, so is the interior. It does come with extra rust free parts such as trunk lid, hood, core support, consoles, trim, and 2 extra fenders. To much to go on about. Got if for a song to a guy a know that lost his job and needed to let it go to pay the bills. Most people wouldn't even believe me if I told em how much I paid. Poor guy. Still has California plates on it. Bad part is it has a 355 sbc with a 4 speed that comes with it. Its a project, but hey, no rust is plus in Cleveland. See ya'll later.

Welcome fellow Buckeye. I know a guy who sold his '66 last summer for near nothing, he has a job but he's really stupid, wanted a junk jet-ski.
Born and bred in Cleveland and rust-free cars are sickening, those guys don't know how good they got it out in those non-corrosive and faraway lands.

Greetings, from Southern Ohio. There seem to be Olds engines available if you look hard enough. E-bay and we crash (demo derby) site sometimes have them listed.

Welcome

Just got on and wanted to say welcome. I'm a newbie also. 71
442 convertible is my current project.
I have a question for all. I have some exhaust manifolds and don't know what they fit: X head #389269 and a Y head #398706.
These were on the car when I got it, so I just ordered a new set of reproduction. W & Z. Would appreciate any info.

Hi ya Mr.Matt, I 'm a newbie from Atlanta. have two '58 Olds EightyEights projects.
Enjoy that rust free find. Saves a lot of time and money if you don't have to mess with repairing sheetmetal and/or rusted out frame {My cars have a minor bit of rust... but my wife's car, a '61 dodge, has a lot of rust issues.... which she expects me to fix. of course maybe after a finish mine.... unless she starts cutting me off, you know what I mean}

Yeah, TK-65 How did you get your photo(s) to do that trick? very nice looking car......

The Y 398706 manifolds are for a '68 400 or Hurst 455 and the X in my book shows as 389268 '65-'67 all w/400

Here is a link to few pics of the car. There will be more once I get it to my shop and get it sorted out. As you can see, it is a clean car. You can't tell, but I can't even find a parking lot door ding on the whole car. So I believe it is dent free as well.

Also if someone can decode the cowl tag that would be great. I have not seen a link here yet on how it is done. Or if someone can tell me where I can get a breakdown of the tag, I can do it. Thanks, matt

Youve got a Fremont built 65. Go to my webpage to see what the numbers mean. By the way, GM forgot to stamp BF next to BODY on your tag. BF is the code for Fremont.

Your car was Almond Beige with Fawn interior. Built 4th week of July.

The door panels appear to be in decent shape. I am looking for a set of originals, if you are not planning on using them and they dont have any major tears etc, Id be interested in them.

Thanks for all the info. I read the page you attached and it is interesting to learn of the Oldmobile tags. The tag on my 70 Formula 400 is similar. And yes, the door panels are dirty, but really nice. They are like the best part if the inside of the car. I will more than likely use them, but I can keep my eye open for some for you.
