oldsparts.com, yearone.com, opgi.com are my main sites. I know that there are a few other ones out there, but they are all about the same in price, give or take a few. As far as your ride being a Supreme or 442, I'm not sure but I never heard of a 442 having a 2 bbl carb. Is it stock? I could be wrong but why have a 442 w/ a 2 bbl?

1972 442

In 1972 442 was an option package for the Cutlass bodies. There was not a different body VIN like previous years so you cannot tell a 442 by the VIN. The only way to tell for sure is factory paperwork, broadcast/build sheets that were left in the car on the assembly line. Look in the back seat cushions, under the front seat, above the gas tank, under the dash, a pillars covers, etc. These are possible locations, not guaranteed to be there. I believe it is W-29 code for 442 appearance package. Other poossible signs are boxed rear control arms and rear sway bar and 442 trim which of course could have all been added on later. Paperwork is the key. Also, you could have a 2 bbl. carb because the 442 package could be added to any 2 door cutlass. Good luck and whether it is a 442 or not, you have a vehicle that is quickly appreciating in popularity and value.

the cheapest way to aquire disc brake conversion is a salvage yard. I purchased the roters slindels calipers, master cylinder, and make sure you get the perportioning valve from the doner car. I spent $200 for mine.
I got mine from a 1970 cutlass. 69-70 have the one piston calipers easiest
to maintain and work on 68 had a two piston caliper. this way is cheaper may be more work some components may need rebuild. used verses new is anywere from $200 used- $500-$700 new. Good luck.

you have a cutlass,, the cutlass S is a step below the 442 but a little more than a cutlass

The most likely place to find an 8x11 Fremont build sheet is under the rear package tray by the rear window. Locations vary by assembly plant, but Fremont cars often hace them in that location.

Oldsmobile72, how can you tell based on what he told us? Unless he came up with the build sheet or window sticker with 'W29' on it, there's no way to tell from what he provided. It very well may be a W29 car but he needs to find the paperwork if it's in the car.

Ssaltuc - yes, in 1972 you can have a 350 2 barrel 442 optioned car with an H (single exhaust) or J (dual exhaust) in the VIN. No Supreme notchback hardtops were ever 442s in 1970-1972, just fastbacks, post coupes and convertibles.
