65 Cutlass shifter and console removal

Any instructions/cautions on removing the shifter and console. I would like to do some cleanup and rewiring of courtesy lights.

Floor shifter and console removal

Is it an automatic or manual transmission console? Do you have a Chassis Service Manual to see where the fasteners are? My only thoughts are don't be too rough on it as old plastic can be brittle. Make sure you've got all the fasteners out before trying to pull the console off the floorboard. John

make sure you loosen both allen screws on the shifter handle(automatic) before taking it off...dont turn it..lift it straight up...or you will break the lever
