Adjusting the stops on a saginaw power steering box???

Back in the 80's. I put a quick ratio steering box out of a '76 WS6 Trans Am into my 67 Olds 442. It quickened up the ratio nicely, but the F-body internal stops do not allow as much total rotation of the pitman shaft as the A-body box did. So my Olds has the turning radius of a 72 passenger BlueBird school bus.

I seem to remember someone telling me way back then to grind down the internal stops in the steering box. I never did it, and now that the car is out of it's 24 year hibernation and getting made ready for Power Tour, I think it is time to address the issue. But I don't want to just tear a complicated thing like a power steering box apart unless I have somewhat of a clue.

Can anyone please advise me if this is really possible, and if so, perhaps tell what the steps are?

Thanks, Joel

Here's a thread on another alternative (set browser to block all words referring to a different GM division).

Here's an article that has some good pics of what's inside, which might be helpful in conjunction with the instructions in the Chassis Service Manual.

Finally, I've attached a photo of all the parts inside the box - there aren't that many.

I plan on taking one apart when it's a bit warmer, just to see what's inside.
