I used the W/Z cast iron dual exhaust manifolds in my 57 because of the tight area around my steering box. I'll use shorty headers in the 48 Olds

Citcapp, Follow up on my Aug. 16th message. I took the 455 to Steve's Precision Machine in Portland for a tear down and look-see. $100 for teardown and analysis of engine condition. With that information I can go from there. They seem pretty knowledgeable about BB Olds engines and said they have done several. I will go see them tomorrow with some pieces I forgot to take earlier.

Another question: Do you have headers on your 47-48 and if so what brand and for what year Olds? I am getting ahead of myself since the engine hasn't been fit to the chassis but am starting to shop for a set of headers. It is confusing as of no manufacturer lists applications like our late 40s Oldsmobiles. I'd like to use a fairly long and efficient set to get the best performance instead of the shorty block huggers from Sanderson but they are an option if nothing else will fit.

citcapp, this is your neighbor to the south, 47 Convertible in Woodland WA. I'm wondering if you know of any reputable big block olds rebuilders in the Pacific NW. I thought you might be a source since you own two of them. I'm plotting the rebuild of my 68 455. I did post in engine forum for others who may know. Thanks for any help.
